The University of Florida Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Glaucoma Specialist to join our growing academic faculty in Gainesville, Florida. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to provide advanced clinical care, train residents and fellows, and contribute to innovative research within a leading academic health center.

Our glaucoma service is a key component of the UF Health Eye Center and serves patients from across North Florida and the Southeast. Faculty provide comprehensive medical and surgical glaucoma care and participate in resident education within the University of Florida College of Medicine.

The glaucoma faculty lead a comprehensive service dedicated to the diagnosis and management of complex glaucoma conditions, including primary open-angle glaucoma, angle-closure glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, and pediatric glaucoma.

Comprehensive Glaucoma Care

The UF Health Glaucoma Service offers state-of-the-art medical and surgical treatment options for patients with glaucoma and other optic nerve disorders.

Our faculty routinely perform advanced glaucoma procedures including:

  • Trabeculectomy
  • Glaucoma drainage device implantation
  • Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS)
  • Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT)
  • Transscleral cyclophotocoagulation

The service also participates in clinical research and the development of new glaucoma therapies.

Training & Academic Environment

As a faculty member in the UF Department of Ophthalmology, the glaucoma specialist will contribute to the education of:

  • Ophthalmology residents
  • Medical students
  • Visiting trainees and fellows

Our academic environment encourages collaboration across subspecialties including retina, cornea, oculoplastic, neuro-ophthalmology, and pediatric ophthalmology.

Primary outpatient ophthalmology visits take place at the UF Health Eye Center – The Oaks, a modern, multidisciplinary facility designed for ophthalmology subspecialty care and surgery. The Oaks provides a collaborative clinical environment designed for optimal comfort and care.
