1st year: Call follows a Q5 schedule. Covering primary call after hours from 5PM to 8AM each weekday and over the weekends. First year residents roughly have one weekday of call per week and one weekend of call per month.
2nd year: Call follows a Q7 schedule. Covering secondary (backup) call after hours from 5PM to 8AM each M/T/F and over the weekends. Secondary call is responsible for helping the first year in treating complex patients as well as performing any emergent surgeries with attendings during call.
3rd year: Call is Q18. One weekday of secondary call per week for 20 days of the year. No weekend call.
